We successfully restored the severely worn out dentition of this patient without the need to prepare or drill any of the existing tooth structure. By using biomimetic principles and adhesive bonding techniques we gave this gentleman his smile and confidence back.
Before

To have posterior teeth is vital to oral health and function. Here we
reconstructed the previous edentulous molar areas with the help of
DENTAL IMPLANTS and all CERAMIC CROWNS.
Before
After
Sometimes tooth wear leads to exposure of the vulnerable underlying dentin , which erodes SEVEN times faster than enamel. This leads to sensitivity and pulp exposure – causing the tooth to become non vital.
Here we restored the anatomical form and function of the severely worn lower dentition without removing any more tooth structure.
Before
After
Here we see that most of the dentition is severely worn and the normal anatomy and form is lost. This lead to further wear as the occlusion is not functioning in its normal protective way anymore.
The result is exposed dentin (darker brown areas in the mid to anterior teeth in fig 1 and 2) that easily leads to decay and sensitivity.
The muscles of mastication (chewing) become hyperactive and soon musculo occlusal problems arise. The temporomandibular (TMG) joint can also become affected.
When we rehabilitate such cases we strive to be as minimally invasive as possible by just doing composite bonding where necessary. This is purely an additive process and saves healthy tooth structure and thus prolongs the longevity of the teeth.
The upper anterior six teeth were restored with super thin but ultra strong ceramic crowns that simply look and feel fantastic!
By wearing a night guard we ensure that the new occlusion design stays protected and healthy for many years to come.
